Learning Stages

Our Primary School follows the structure of the NSW syllabus and is organised into clear learning stages that support age-appropriate growth and development. Stage-based classes operate with two classes per stage. Teachers plan and prepare collaboratively, ensuring consistency, high expectations, and targeted support for every learner.

Kindergarten

Kindergarten provides a strong and nurturing start to school life. Students develop early literacy and numeracy skills while learning how to work independently and alongside others. Play-based and explicit instruction are carefully balanced to build confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning.

Stage One

Years 1 and 2

In Stage 1, students strengthen core skills in reading, writing, and mathematics. Learning experiences encourage creativity, problem solving, and collaboration. Teachers support students to develop positive learning habits while continuing to grow socially and emotionally.

Stage Two

Years 3 and 4

Stage 2 students deepen their understanding across key learning areas. They are encouraged to ask thoughtful questions, apply knowledge in new ways, and take greater responsibility for their learning. Lessons promote critical thinking while reinforcing Christian values such as respect, service, and perseverance.

Stage Three

Years 5 and 6

Stage 3 focuses on preparing students for the transition to secondary school. Students build independence, leadership skills, and confidence in their abilities. Learning is purposeful and challenging, equipping students with the academic and personal skills needed for future success.

Extra-Curricular Opportunities

Primary students enjoy a wide range of opportunities beyond the classroom that enrich learning and build confidence.

  • Sporting gala days and interschool competitions
  • Choir and Worship Band
  • Debating and public speaking
  • Lunchtime club activities
  • One afternoon of after-school sport each week
  • Weekly chapel, led by Primary classes throughout the year

These experiences encourage teamwork, creativity, leadership, and service while strengthening students’ sense of belonging.
