Prep Purpose & Learning
Pre-Kindergarten is the ideal way for your 4 and 5-year-old to become familiar with school life before entering big school. Every day is a school-readiness experience. Pre- Kindergarten at Hunter Christian School provides a consistent school-like daily routine and lessons. The students wear a school uniform, pack their lunch and carry their backpacks into class daily.
Other school-based activities include visiting the library and engaging in structured activities like Music, and Sport. Pre-Kindergarten children access many aspects of a school program where adjustments are made to allow the younger students access to these opportunities in an age-appropriate manner.
Pre-Kindergarten is an integrated part of Primary School. The children participate in the School’s positive behaviour program, which guides them towards making good choices about their behaviour and their learning. Prep students take part in activities such as special school events, chapels and assemblies. These small but significant actions help prepare the children for school in a realistic and well-supported way.
The unique program offered to young people the year before they start Kindergarten provides learning experiences that are fun, engaging, encouraging friendships and establishing a love of inquisitive learning while being exposed to Early Stage 1 NESA outcomes providing a rich foundation to their learning journey.
