Hunter Christian School continues to provide meaningful, real-world leadership opportunities for its students, with members of the Student Leadership Team recently serving at the Hunter Sunrise Leaders Business Breakfast.

While most teenagers are still asleep at 6:30am on a Friday morning, a dedicated group of Year 11 and 12  student leaders volunteered their time to support one of the region’s key business networking events. Students welcomed guests, assisted with event coordination, and ensured the morning ran seamlessly—demonstrating professionalism, initiative, and a genuine heart for service.

The Hunter Sunrise Leaders Business Breakfast, delivered in partnership with Rhema 99.7FM, brings together business and community leaders from across the Hunter region. The event provides a platform for attendees to hear from inspiring keynote speakers, build valuable connections, and exchange ideas—all before the workday begins.

For students of Hunter Christian School, the experience goes beyond volunteering. It offers a unique opportunity to observe leadership in action, engage with influential voices in the community, and gain insight into the qualities that define effective leadership.

Executive Principal Dr Simon Herd said the school is intentional about creating opportunities that extend learning beyond the classroom.

“Leadership isn’t a title—it’s about serving others and adding value. At Hunter Christian School, we want our students to be in the same rooms as leaders across the Hunter region, learning from them and contributing alongside them. We are preparing students for life beyond the school gates.”

At the heart of the school’s leadership philosophy is a commitment to service. Students are encouraged to lead through action—supporting others, contributing to their community, and developing character alongside capability.
