A Holistic Approach to Primary Sport & Extracurricular Learning
At Hunter Christian School, we believe education extends far beyond the classroom. Our Elevate HCS program has been designed to provide primary students with a rich, holistic experience—nurturing not only physical development, but also confidence, creativity, teamwork, and character.
Designed to Help Every Child Thrive
Elevate HCS is built on a simple belief: every child is uniquely gifted and deserves opportunities to explore, grow, and excel in areas they are passionate about.
Inspired by leading global models such as Punahou School, this initiative responds to a growing demand within our community for meaningful, high-quality extracurricular opportunities. With strong participation already seen in programs like AFL, it’s clear that our students are eager to engage, learn, and be challenged beyond the school day.
A Diverse Range of Opportunities
Elevate HCS offers a wide variety of clubs and activities designed to cater to different interests and strengths, including:
- Sport-focused programs such as Basketball and AFL
- Strategic and critical thinking activities like Chess and Debating
- Creative and cultural experiences through Language and Culture clubs
- Future-focused learning in Coding and Robotics
As part of our commitment to excellence, our involvement in Hunter Region Independent Schools (HRIS) continues to strengthen opportunities for students to participate in sport at a competitive and representative level.
How the Program Works
Elevate HCS is designed to be flexible, accessible, and community-driven:
- Weekly Club Sessions: Students participate in after-school clubs held weekly, with opportunities for additional sessions leading into competitions or gala days.
- Community-Led Learning: Clubs are led by passionate parent volunteers, supported by school staff, and may also include alumni or senior students completing practical
experience. - Safe & Supported Environment: All volunteers hold a current Working With Children Check, ensuring a safe and secure environment for every child.
Building More Than Skills
Through Elevate HCS, students don’t just learn new skills—they develop essential life qualities that shape who they are becoming.
- Confidence & Motivation: Choice-based activities empower students to pursue their interests and build self-belief.
- Teamwork & Social Skills: Collaborative environments help students develop strong relationships and communication skills.
- Resilience & Growth: Participation in sport and extracurricular activities teaches perseverance, discipline, and a healthy approach to challenge.
Strengthening Community
A key strength of Elevate HCS is its ability to bring families into the learning journey. By inviting parents and the wider school community to be part of the program, we are creating a shared experience that strengthens connection, belonging, and school culture.
