Careers &
Pathways
A personalised approach to careers and pathways that supports every student to explore their strengths, plan with confidence, and prepare for meaningful work, further study, or training beyond school.
These experiences prepare students not only academically, but socially and spiritually for life beyond the school gates. At HCS, your child’s world gets bigger as they form lifelong friendships, serve others with heart, and grow as global citizens of faith.
A personal path to career and academic success
Careers at Hunter Christian School are shaped through a personalised, future-focused approach that supports every secondary student. Each student from Years 9–12 is provided with an individual career pathway plan, alongside targeted support in résumé writing and interview skills to prepare them for life beyond school.
Year 9-10 Students
participate in dedicated “Life” classes, where they learn essential skills such as understanding tax, property, superannuation, budgeting, and domestic responsibilities to equip them for adult life.
Year 10-12 Students
are encouraged to explore a wide range of study options that align with their gifts and passions, including internal Vocational Education & Training (VET) courses, external VET through providers such as TAFE NSW, School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBATs), and distance education.
Transition to Work
Hunter Christian School also partners with local organisations to provide a Transition to Work program, offering authentic workplace exposure and supported pathways into employment or further training.
We recognise that no two students are the same.
Pathways may include academic pursuits, university preparation, student-based apprenticeships or traineeships, vocational education, or a combination of learning models. Through a range of partnerships — including online learning options — students can explore formal pathways towards recognised qualifications while still at school.
Every student develops a clear, individual pathway plan and gains the confidence that comes from knowing they are supported and prepared. Our goal is that when students leave Year 12, they do so with clarity, direction, and the next steps firmly in place — ready for life beyond the school gates.
