History / English Teacher – Temporary Full-Time Appointment for Term 4 2021


Hunter Christian School is a caring school community that places high value in taking a responsive and flexible approach to education.

We’re looking for an innovative teacher who can teach Junior Secondary students - predominantly History, with some English and Pastoral Care teaching load, providing challenge and engagement to students of all abilities. A commitment to the daily support of students is also a vital aspect of this role.

Applicants should be:

  • Experienced and / or qualified to teach Junior Secondary History and English classes;
  • Committed Christians, actively involved in a local evangelical church;
  • Committed to the vision of Christian schooling;
  • Able to foster strong, healthy rapport with students from a variety of backgrounds;
  • Able to function well as a member of a team, demonstrating initiative and communication skills;
  • Well organised; and
  • Prepared to make contributions to the extra-curricular life of the school.


The position is temporary full-time for Term 4 of 2021 replacing a staff member on leave. Award wages and conditions apply. Employment screening for working with children is mandatory.

Accounts Administration Traineeship

Who you’ll be working with

During your traineeship, you’ll be employed by us, while completing on-the-job training with our Host Employer, Hunter Christian School. We’ll provide you with ongoing mentoring and support to help you achieve your career goals and unleash your true potential.

What you’ll be doing

You will complete a Certificate III in Accounts Administration over 24 months through a combination of formal training with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and practical on-the-job experience with the Host Employer.

Throughout your formal training and practical experience in the workplace, you will have the opportunity to complete:

  • General reception duties
  • Processing of purchase orders
  • Accounts receivable and payable duties
  • Payroll functions

What you’ll bring to the table

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to meet the following selection criteria:

  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Commitment to both on and off the job training
  • A can-do attitude and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work safely and follow instructions
  • Demonstrated interest in accounts
  • High level of attention to detail
  • First aid certificate or willingness to obtain
  • Working with Children Check and National Police Check or willingness to obtain
  • P1 drivers’ licence or higher
  • Candidates who are actively involved in their Christian church are encouraged to apply
